DECATUR, Ohio - A prosecutor says the parents of a 9-year-old boy fatally shot in the head at the family's home have been charged with child endangering.
Assistant Brown County Prosecutor Zac Corbin said Monday that Chris Swartz and Shanna Swartz were each charged with one count of child endangering in Sebastian Swartz's death. Prosecutors will decide whether to present the case to the grand jury.
Authorities say the boy, of the southern Ohio village of Decatur, died at a Cincinnati hospital a few days after the Feb. 18 shooting.
While the prosecutor wouldn't provide details of the case, the county sheriff has said the boy got his father's gun and was playing with it when the shooting occurred.
Messages left for the couple's attorneys were not immediately returned Monday.
