DELAWARE, Ohio - Ohio authorities are accusing a man of forcing several women into prostitution by exploiting their drug habits.

A grand jury indictment against suspect David Nelms of Columbus also accuses him of human trafficking and heroin possession.

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine and Delaware County Prosecutor Carol O'Brien said Tuesday the alleged prostitution took place at several upscale hotels in the greater Columbus area.

Investigators say Nelms advertised the women in online escort websites where he offered sexual activity for cash.

They say Nelms, who was arrested Monday, forced the drug-addicted women to cooperate by withholding their drugs until they complied.

Authorities suspect Nelms of trafficking up to a dozen women over several years.

The 39-year-old Nelms was in Delaware County Jail Tuesday where records did not list an attorney.
