CINCINNATI - An Ohio landlord has agreed to pay $855,000 after admitting he violated the Fair Housing Act by sexually harassing female tenants at rental properties he managed in the Cincinnati area.
The Justice Department says Henry E. Bailey must pay $800,000 in damages to 14 women he sexually harassed and a $55,000 civil penalty to the United States under the consent judgment approved Wednesday by a federal court in Cincinnati.
The 2011 complaint alleged that between at least March 1991 and January 2011 Bailey subjected female tenants and prospective tenants to unwanted verbal sexual comments and touching. It also alleged he entered female tenants' apartments without permission and granted housing benefits in exchange for sexual favors.
Bailey's phone number was not immediately available. His attorney did not immediately return calls.
