COLUMBUS, Ohio - Gov. John Kasich has signed into law new rules for casinos, bingo halls and the slots-like video lottery terminals that are coming to Ohio's seven horse racetracks.
Monday's signing comes several weeks after Ohio's first two casinos opened in Cleveland and Toledo.
The bill includes a legislative compromise to give extra money to certain cities with horse tracks. The deal would funnel additional money to some cities that have so-called "racinos," or horse tracks that feature slots-like gambling.
The measure also would place a one-year moratorium on new Internet "sweepstakes" cafes, where customers can play largely unregulated games.
Kasich vetoed two provisions in the bill, including an exception to the use of the word "casino" by places other than the four voter-approved casinos in Cleveland, Toledo, Columbus and Cincinnati.
