COSHOCTON, Ohio - Authorities say a 20-year-old man shot during a confrontation with central Ohio sheriff's deputies has died.
The coroner's office identified the man shot by a Coshocton deputy Tuesday night as David Stahl. He died at a Columbus hospital Wednesday.
Police said the incident started when an officer in Muskingum County tried to stop Stahl's truck for traffic violations. Officers said he fled, and Coshocton deputies picked up the chase when Stahl crossed into that county.
One Coshocton deputy crashed his cruiser during the chase and was treated for his injuries at a hospital and released. Another deputy ended up firing shots at Stahl.
Coshocton County Sheriff Timothy Rogers has released few details, including whether Stahl had a weapon.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is handling the investigation.
