NEWARK, Ohio - Authorities in central Ohio say they've charged a 23-year-old man with attacking a 15-year-old girl who said she was raped while walking to school earlier this month.
Licking County Prosecutor Kenneth Oswalt said Zakery Neldon was arrested Thursday. A statement from Oswalt's office said Neldon was linked to the alleged crime through forensic evidence and his own statements to police.
The girl told police she was abducted and raped while walking to Newark High School Oct. 9. Oswalt said Neldon did not know the girl.
Neldon has been charged with rape and was expected to appear in court Thursday. The case will be considered by a grand jury Nov. 1.
It wasn't clear Thursday whether Neldon had an attorney yet.
