LOGAN, Ohio - The father-in-law of an Ohio woman found dead in a septic tank will be allowed to have a sackcloth and ashes for a religious observance in jail.

William Inman has pleaded not guilty to murder charges in the death of Summer Inman. The Logan Daily News reports Wednesday the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail agreed to let William Inman have the items after an attorney said he would not wear the sackcloth but use it as a prayer rug.

Jail officials had said they were concerned about Inman being in a state of undress.

A sackcloth and ashes are biblical symbols of mourning or repentance.

Summer Inman was found strangled in March in southeast Ohio's Athens County. Her estranged husband and mother-in-law also have pleaded not guilty in her killing.
