ATHENS, Ohio; KENT, Ohio - Eighty people were arrested, many on alcohol-related offenses, at the annual Halloween block party near Ohio University.
University police arrested 31 people between 3 p.m. Saturday and 3 a.m. Sunday when the streets were cleared. Athens police arrested 49 people.
According to The Athens Messenger, Athens County Emergency Medical Services had 34 calls for assistance with 25 people going to the emergency room. Most calls were alcohol-related.
Officials say the size of the crowd amid rainy weather in the 40's was typical of past years. They say this year's version was "relatively calm."
The Kent State Police Department has not yet released the number of arrests from this years Halloween party to NewsChannel 5. In 2011, 21 people were arrested, down from 53 in 2010.
