COLUMBUS, Ohio - Ohio State University says office space for retired president Gordon Gee will cost $50,000 or less and will be completed next month.
University spokesman Gary Lewis says the space in Page Hall will also house an assistant, one additional employee and any students working for Gee, who plans to research 21st century education policy.
Lewis said the existing space requires minor construction along with carpeting and painting.
Gee will also have a faculty office in the nearby law school.
Ohio State board chairman Bobby Schottenstein previously shot down reports that the university would construct a $190,000 office suite for Gee.
The 69-year-old Gee retired July 1, a month after remarks became public that he made months earlier jabbing Notre Dame, Roman Catholics and Southeastern Conference schools.
