NEWTON FALLS, Ohio - A couple has been killed in a head-on crash in northeast Ohio, and authorities say the driver of the car that hit them was speeding.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol says 37-year-old Jamie Danes, of Newton Falls, and his 29-year-old wife, Emily, died at the scene of Friday's crash. The patrol says neither was wearing a seatbelt.
An accident report obtained by The Vindicator of Youngstown says a 42-year-old Diamond man was speeding when he crossed the center lane and hit the Danes' car head-on.
The newspaper reports that the man was in stable condition Saturday night with non-life-threatening injuries.
Troopers are awaiting the results of toxicology tests to determine if the man was under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time. No charges have been filed.
