ATHENS, Ohio - Campus police and the state fire marshal's office are investigating an overnight fire on the roof of an Ohio University building as arson.
A spokeswoman at the university in Athens in southeast Ohio confirmed that arson was suspected in the fire early Friday on the roof of the school's Research and Technology Center. No one was injured.
She says campus police spotted the fire and Athens firefighters extinguished it.
The fire caused some damage to the building, but no damage estimate was available yet.
The Columbus Dispatch reports that university police Capt. Brian Kapple says the fire was in a small wooden structure he believes was once used to house a telescope.
Police said they had no immediate suspects.
