CALDWELL, Ohio - Two men were arrested in Summit County, accused of robbing and killing jobseekers they had lured on craigslist.

Investigators said the men are connected to a bizarre crime in Noble County that left one man dead and another shot but alive.

According to the Noble County Sheriff’s Office, deputies learned of the scheme after one of the victims escaped. Detectives said the man was shot in the arm and ran to a home in the town of Fulda. He said he had been hiding in the woods because two men tried to kill him.

The man, who is from South Carolina, told detectives he responded to an ad on craigslist, offering a job on a cattle farm in Noble County. The ad said told jobseekers to bring all of their belongings because they would be living on the farm.

Then, the second victim’s sister called the sheriff’s office, saying she had not heard from her brother in a few days. She said he lived in Florida and was going to Ohio for a job that was posted in a craigslist ad. His body was discovered in a shallow grave near where the first victim was shot.

The sheriff’s office told NewsChannel5 that two people were arrested in Summit County on Wednesday night for the crime. Authorities are still compiling charges and names have not been released.

The Geauga County Sheriff's office said two civilian deputies with K9s went to Noble County to help with the search of the hilly terrain.

The autopsy is ongoing, according to the sheriff’s department.
