CINCINNATI - A house designed by legendary architect Frank Lloyd Wright is up for sale in Amberley Village, near Cincinnati.

This is the first time the Gerald B. Tonkens House, which is currently on the National Historic Register, has ever been on the market.

Although Wright designed approximately 140 houses around the world, real estate agent Lori Wellinghoff said the Tonkens House ranks as one of the 10 most important houses he designed.

"Frank Lloyd Wright wanted you to get a sense of a big reveal when you came into this room so from the entry to the foyer you come into the narrow gallery wall into the great room,” said Wellinghoff, who's working on behalf of Comey & Shepherd Realtors & Christies International Real Estate. “The house was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright but built uniquely by Eric Lloyd Wright, his grandson who moved to Cincinnati for 18 months to build this house.”

The house has three bedrooms, two full bathrooms and sits on more than four acres of property that's described as "flat and rolling," with mature trees and landscaping, near a pastoral city park, abundant flora, fauna and wildlife.

In addition to its perfect layout and picturesque exterior, the house comes with the original FLW designed Henredon furniture that was specifically designed for the home at an additional cost as part of the sale, according to a press release from the real estate companies.

“All of the furniture in the house was Frank Lloyd Wright's original design specified for this house with a few exceptions," Wellinghoff said.

The kitchen has been updated with modern amenities, according to Wellinghoff.

While its grandeur, historical significance and beauty is not in question, what some people are wondering is how much it costs.

The house, which comes with a guest house that was oft utilized by newsman Walter Cronkite, is currently on the market for just under $1.8 million.
