CLEVELAND - Facebook has released a new version of its iPhone/iPad app that it claims is twice as fast as the last one.
The new "5.0" update was made available Thursday via the Apple App Store.
Facebook said it rebuilt the app, instead of just making tweaks to the previous version. The company said scrolling through the news feed is faster than ever and photos load instantly.
The social networking company was criticized by many iOS users after it released an update to the app in correlation with its "timeline" launch, which operated much slower than the prior version.
Facebook previously released two other apps for iOS devices that interface with its site: Facebook Messenger and Facebook Camera.
