COLUMBUS, Ohio - Students waited patiently to go through a security checkpoint as a light rain fell Tuesday prior to President Barack Obama's campaign speech at Capital University south of downtown Columbus.
Students said they expect the president to talk about the rising cost of college and mounting student loan debt, concern over the future of Pell grants and interest rates on student loans.
Sheila Kraft has a unique perspective. Kraft said she just went back to college herself while paying for her daughter's college education.
"I have a daughter in college who depends on the Pell grants and I just went to college on a student loan. It's helpful on the student loans if the interest rates are low. I'm hopeful President Obama will address these issues today," Kraft said.
Ohio ranks seventh in student loan debt nationally.
President Obama is scheduled to speak at the small private college just after 1 p.m. Stay with newsnet5.com and later editions of NewsChannel5 for complete coverage of the presidential visit to the key battleground state of Ohio.
