CLEVELAND - Cleveland businessman Michael Forlani has asked for a hearing to change his plea in his upcoming corruption case scheduled for trial in October.

Forlani was indicted on racketeering and corruption charges in October, 2011 and had plead not guilty.

Prosecutors allege that Forlani gave former Cuyahoga County Commissioner Jimmy Dimora gifts, including a $12,000 television and meals, in an effort to steer lucrative county contracts in his direction.

His company was involved in a $125 million project at the Veteran's Administration hospital in Cleveland.

According to court records, Forlani has asked for a hearing on Thursday in federal court to change his plea.

Dimora was sentenced last month to 28 years in prison for his role in the corruption probe.
