WASHINGTON - An anti-abortion group plans to air radio ads in three congressional races calling for the defeat of Democratic incumbents.
The targets include northeast Ohio Congressman John Boccieri.
The ads are among the first to capitalize on a Supreme Court ruling this year that freed corporations to directly influence elections.
The group behind the ads, AUL Action, is incorporated as a nonprofit under the tax code, allowing it to enjoy the expanded rights granted by the court.
The ads criticize Boccieri and his two colleagues for voting for President Barack Obama's health care law.
In a statement, AUL Action says the vote amounted to "the largest expansion of federal funding of abortion ever."
