CLEVELAND - An exclusive 5 On Your Side school safety survey examines security at northeast Ohio schools two months after the deadly shooting at an elementary school in Connecticut.

Our investigative team devoted a full week to survey elementary schools in six counties--ranging from large urban schools to smaller, rural classrooms.

Our review of school safety followed specific guidelines. Schools found with security issues, such as front doors being open, would be notified immediately so administrators could take appropriate action.

School locations will not be broadcast or published to protect children's safety.

We also obtained interviews with school security experts who reveal what they have found in similar tests.

The results of our exclusive school security survey will be contained in our special investigation Thursday on NewsChannel5 at 11.
