A new malware scam is hitting computers nationwide.

A warning about the scam was posted by the Internet Crime Complaint Center , which is a partnership between the FBI and the National White Collar Crime Center.

Users can unknowingly download the malware by clicking on an infected link.

Once it's installed on the computer, it will freeze the screen and a window with a message will pop up.

The message claims to be from the FBI and informs the user that the PC has been blocked because of child pornography. It then instructs the user to pay a fine to resolve the charges. There is a place to enter financial information, but experts are warning users not to fall for this scam.

If this message has appeared on your computer, you're encouraged to file a complaint with the Internet Crime Complaint Center and speak with a local computer expert to help remove the malware.
