ST. LOUIS - It was a narrow escape Tuesday morning for two police officers in St. Louis.
It happened on Interstate 70 in North St. Louis. Police reports indicated that a patrol car was parked to divert traffic due to a crash that was blocking the traffic lanes ahead.
The people inside that first vehicle got out and ran away, and a second wreck happened when a driver trying to avoid the first crash smashed into the parked police cruiser.
Just before the crash, the officer jumped over the center median into the eastbound flow of traffic in order to get out of the way. The other officer ran down the highway as the patrol car did a spin.
No injuries were reported to police in either crash.
