ATLANTA - Police have closed streets and sidewalks around CNN Center in downtown Atlanta as they investigate a chemical bomb threat.
Atlanta police Capt. Adam Lee tells The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that a caller claimed to have planted a chemical bomb at the center. The sprawling complex is home to CNN, several restaurants and shops and an adjoining hotel.
Police closed streets and sidewalks to vehicles and pedestrians on the block to the north of the center, and on the block to the west of the center. The streets remained closed at 5:45 a.m., just ahead of the morning rush hour.
Several police vehicles and fire trucks were at the scene, which is just south of Centennial Olympic Park.
