CARLISLE, Pa. - School districts around the country, including some in Pennsylvania, are laying off teachers and finding other ways to cope with the cuts. But one school in the Carlisle district has come up with a creative way to save money.

Carlisle's Wilson Middle School is using sheep to take care of its groundskeeping chores. Instead of workers spending six hours a week mowing and trimming, sheep nibble grass and weeds each morning.

The move is expected to save the school district up to $15,000 a year. Another plus: it cuts down on local air pollution.
