CLEVELAND - Meteorologist Mark Johnson got a serious case of the giggles during Tuesday night's newscast.
Johnson, who tried to maintain his composure after others in the studio were apparently distracting him, continued through his weathercast -- but not without some periods of laughter.
Johnson said anchor Danita Harris caused him to laugh after he eluded to an "image" in his weather map following a story about a possible image of Jesus seen in an MRI scan.
On Twitter, WEWS-TV viewer Amber Stewart posted, "Mark Johnson & Danita Harris of @WEWS - CAUGHT IN THE GIGGLE LOOP. Best newscast ever."
Tami Rosenberg, another viewer, was also watching and chimed in via Twitter.
"Mark Johnson is totally losing it tonight on @WEWS Power of 5 forecast. WHAT is Danita doing back there???" she wrote.
Johnson also wanted to clear up a possible misunderstanding of what was causing him to laugh.
"It was one of those unintentionally awkward moments. Contrary to what a few folks might believe, I was not making fun of the person in the story. My thoughts go out to her. My mistake was starting our the weather broadcast with the phrase 'and in this image we showed you at six.' That evoked some laughter from members of the crew. For some reason, I caught the laughter bug, too," said Johnson.
