FRUITA, Colo. - A new slogan is causing a huge debate for a city in Colorado. The slogan is “W.T.F.,” meaning “Welcome to Fruita.”

Attracting tourists is key for many towns in Colorado, but a new campaign is causing a huge debate for the city of Fruita.

City Manager Clint Kinney wanted to post ads with “WTF” on billboards and bumper stickers.

He said “Welcome To Fruita” was part of a strategy to attract more tourism, but the ads had the town talking and city council members opposed the idea.

"We saw them and thought it was pretty funny and thought it might be a good idea,” Kinney said.

Those opposed to the slogan have suggested the city use the acronym T.G.I.F. for “Thank God, It's Fruita.”
