VIDEO: Trainers try to help a penguin who's afraid of the water

HEILONGJIANG PROVINCE, China - You’ve probably heard the saying, it’s best to dive in head first. A little guy in China might need that advice.

It’s a penguin who’s afraid of the water. He won’t jump into the pool and instead stands on dry land and flaps his wings at his animal park.

Trainers say penguins are born with the ability to swim, but they still need to be trained how to climb up on shore. The video shows that this penguin won’t do either, so trainers have tried to help him along. They have placed him in the water, but he frantically swims back to shore.

The penguin has become a bit of a local celebrity. Visitors to Harbin Polarland are getting quite at laugh at the penguin’s expense.
