WELLESLEY, Mass. - Would $200 get your teenager off Facebook? Would $200 get you off Facebook? That is the price for one 14-year-old in Massachusetts in a story that has gone viral on the Internet.

Rachel Baier of Wellesley, Mass., struck a deal with her dad to say off Facebook until summer. Her father Paul, an executive with a Boston energy firm, agreed to pay her $200 with payments of $50 in April and $150 in June.

Baier posted the contract on his blog .

"It was her idea," Paul Baier told the website Daily Dot . "She wants to earn money and also finds Facebook a distraction and a waste of time sometimes. She plans to go back on after the 6 months is over"

The dad has access to the account to make sure it's not active and can change the password.

For some, it doesn't take being paid to get off Facebook. Earlier this week, the Pew Research Center's Internet and American Life Project released a study finding some 61 percent of Facebook users had taken off at least several weeks. The reasons varied from too much drama to too busy to Lent.

Of American adults who use the Internet, 67 percent are on Facebook, Pew said. It is by far the largest social media network with Pew finding 20 percent use LinkedIn and 16 percent are on Twitter.
