DUNCAN, British Columbia - A Canadian dance studio is causing a stir with its latest class: pole dancing for kids.
The instructor said her classes are about fitness and fun, not about sex.
"There is nothing provocative. There is nothing sexual about it. It's pure fitness and strength and fun. I mean kids love climbing trees. They will climb anything," she said.
She also said that children who pole dance get an excellent cardiovascular work-out ... and upper-body workout.
"Some of my more advanced students have poles at home to practice and stretch. It would be great if there were classes where they could learn how to properly do something," the instructor said.
Her little spinners class has four students signed up so far and their parents already take the adult class.
Kids pole dancing isn't new though.
There was a national pole dancing championship in Russia last week where kids as young as seven years old were allowed to compete.
