NORFOLK, Va. - A playful pooch with a creative haircut scared residents of a Norfolk, Virginia neighborhood.
On Tuesday, police said they received calls about a baby lion on the loose. Officers even called the local zoo to make sure all the big cats were accounted for.
The so-called lion turned out to be Charles the Monarch, a Labrador-poodle mix. The dog’s owner, Daniel Painter, said his pet’s hair is cut to look like Old Dominion University's mascot.
Painter said this isn’t the first time the Labradoodle has been mistaken for a lion in calls to police.
