1. First presidential debate
President Barack Obama and GOP candidate Mitt Romney will face off in a debate Wednesday night from the University of Denver. The debate will be divided into six segments of about 15 minutes and focus on domestic policy. The host of HewsHour on PBS, Jim Lehrer, will serve as moderator.

2. Snow so soon?
Mark Johnson said computer forecasts for Friday night and Saturday morning show 2 to 5 inches of snow. But he also added it is unlikely we will see any snow accumulation this weekend.

3. Sentencing starts for bartender’s murder
The sentencing and mitigation phase for Joseph Thomas begins on Tuesday after he was convicted on all charges in the death of Mentor resident Annie McSween. McSween’s body was found behind Mario’s Lakeway Lounge, where she worked, on the day after Thanksgiving in 2010. Prosecutors are pushing for Thomas to receive the death penalty.

4. Last Tribe game
Wednesday’s 7:05 p.m. game against the White Sox is the last game of the season for the Cleveland Indians. On Thursday, the team announced Manny Acta would no longer serve as the manager, opening up speculation over who could be the new skipper.

5. Ashtabula APL still needs homes for dogs
The Ashtabula County APL needs to adopt out 60 dogs by the end of the week in order to avoid euthanizing them. On Tuesday, the APL reported nine dogs have found new homes.
