Single mom, no tip? Reddit photo of restaurant receipt saying 'single mom, sorry' gains attention

A restaurant receipt photo posted on Reddit.com last week is still getting a ton of attention on the internet.

The photo shows a receipt with a $138.35 tab, which would result in a pretty nice tip for the waiter… right?

But in this case, the customer left only a note instead: “Single mom, sorry. Thank you it was great.”

There’s been outrage over the photo, saying the combination of all the factors is what makes it appalling: nearly $140 on one meal, using the “single mom” excuse, and even complimenting the service.

"I'm sure $140 could have gotten you and your kids a week worth of groceries, but instead you spend it one one meal?! For shame!" wrote the Reddit user who posted the photo.

The photo was one of the most searched items on the internet Monday morning.
