CLEVELAND - People who smoke marijuana as teens could be lowering their  IQ for life.

The study shows that marijuana, otherwise known as pot, is especially harmful to younger, developing brains.

IQ scores dropped an average of eight points in kids who were dependent on the illegal substance by the time they turned 18 years old.

The research also revealed more signs of memory and attention problems over a lifetime span.

The study was conducted in New Zealand, with more than a thousand people participating in the research.
