CLEVELAND - Hundreds of volunteers worked to give dozens of local homes an extreme makeover.
The Rebuilding Together Cleveland program teamed up with Fresh Coat Cleveland program and the City of Cleveland Department of Aging to help low-income homeowners with home painting, repairs and landscaping.
The majority of homeowners they assist are either elderly, disabled, members of the military, veterans, or families with children.
Volunteers say it's all about giving back to the community.
Joe Ward, President of Rebuilding Together Cleveland said "We're here for the homeowners. We want them to feel good and we feel good. I’m from Chesterland, working in Cleveland to make it a better place."
In one instance, 40 volunteers from the Cleveland Clinic made repairs, painted, and did minor maintenance on the home of a 79-year-old disabled Army veteran who served our country in both Korea and Japan.
A second rebuilding day is set for next month.
