Veterans hospital spends thousands on ambulances to nowhere

CLEVELAND - The Veterans Administration Medical Center in Cleveland has spent more than a half million dollars on canceled ambulances that include wrong addresses and trips to homes of veterans that have previously passed away.

A 5 On Your Side Investigation uncovered the expenses after reviewing the hospital's records and invoices. Watch the exclusive report at tonight at 11 on NewsChannel5.

Taxpayers spent $529 million last year providing veterans with medical care they need and deserve.

Nearly $9 million was spent on ambulances and ambulettes that provide qualifying veterans with transportation for everything from kindey dialysis to eye exams.
