AKRON, Ohio - Dan Lancianese teaches special education at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School. He also serves as the school's cross country and track coach.
In the classroom, he works with students who have various disabilities, such as autism and Down Syndrome.
His patience and ability to connect with all of his students has a positive affect throughout the St. Vincent-St. Mary community.
"Mr. L," as he is affectionately called, influences kids to get involved in community service. Many students volunteer their time during lunch and study hall to help out in his special education class.
Additionally, his girl's cross country team has won two consecutive state championships in 2009 and 2010.
