MEDINA, Ohio - A group of mail thieves took aim at Medina’s post office last week, and Medina police have tracked down five of the six suspects in the robbery.
Police are now sweeping through the city looking for the final suspect.
"We know what they did, how they did it and are sweeping the city looking for the last suspect," Medina Police Chief Patrick Berarducci said, in a release. "If you had mail stolen take precautions to protect against identity theft. It will take a while to determine the scope of the crime committed."
The suspects stole 300 to 400 pieces of mail, and then used stolen gift cards at various locations around town, according to police.
Shawn Shea, 18; Kourtney Mains, 20; Kyle Mains, 18; and Anthony George, 18; were all arrested and charged with receiving stolen property, a fifth degree felony. The fifth suspect in custody is a juvenile and is being held at the Medina County Juvenile Detention Center, according to a report from the police.
Individuals that had their mail stolen are advised to call U.S. Postal Inspector James Bogden at 216-443-4019 to report the theft. Also, if individuals have concern about identity theft, they can contact the Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray to request an identity theft repair kit at 888-694-6463.
