CLEVELAND - With the Mega Millions jackpot up to $640 million and the next drawing Friday night, people are flocking to buy tickets and get their best shot at the prize.

Lottery is inherently a game of chance, but is there anything you can do to increase your odds of winning the huge jackpot?

An Ohio Lottery spokesperson told newsnet5.com that since Ohio joined the Mega Millions game, the number 48 has been the most common white ball drawn, at 83 times.

The number 36 is the most common Mega Ball, drawn 24 times.

Here is the list of the most drawn white balls:

#48, drawn 83 times
#36, drawn 75 times
#12, drawn 73 times
#53, drawn 73 times
#46, drawn 71 times
#51, drawn 71 times
#52, drawn 71 times

Here is the list of the most drawn Mega Balls:

#36, drawn 24 times

The Ohio Lottery also said that most of the time about 70 percent of players use auto pick. When the jackpot is high, there are more occasional or first-time players who choose that option.

The last Mega Millions jackpot win in Ohio was in Jefferson in August of 2001, where a pool of Kraftmaid workers split $99 million.

Tuesday's $363 million jackpot was the third-largest in Mega Millions' history.

Ohio’s largest Mega Millions win was $270 million in February 2006.
