DALTON, Ohio - No one was injured after a stunt plane crashed in Wayne County on Tuesday.
The crash happened shortly before 8 p.m. on Davis Road in an area designated as an “aerobatic box” by the FAA. That allows pilots to perform maneuvers not normally allowed.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol said 43-year-old Jason Stropki, of Uniontown, was pulling his biplane out of a spin when the motor stalled. Stropki tried to restart the engine, but it didn’t work.
He was able to land on a private airfield. Troopers said the plane’s left wings hit a utility pole.
Stropki’s 18-year-old passenger was not harmed.
The crash remains under investigation by the FAA.
