WOOSTER, Ohio - A major drug roundup was under way Tuesday night in Wayne County and surrounding areas.
Fifty-one people were indicted on Nov. 9 on 115 felony drug counts. One hour into the sweep, more than a dozen had been taken into custody.
"We're looking at prescription drugs, heroin, cocaine, crack cocaine, meth, marijuana," said David Smith, director of the Medway Drug Enforcement Agency. A total of 28 people were arrested in Tuesday's sweep.
Smith said drug overdoses have increased in the last three or four years.
He doesn't believe they're winning the war on drugs, but he said, "I think it's a battle that needs to be fought."
