CUYAHOGA FALLS, Ohio - A man allegedly broke into a home then decided to get some rest, Cuyahoga Falls police say.

Police received a call of a burglary in process on the 3100 block of Akron Peninsula Road in Cuyahoga Falls at 4 a.m. Thursday. When they arrived, police said the homeowner Edward Grether was in the front yard.

He told police he was asleep in bed when he was awoken by loud banging sounds. Police said they found the south side kitchen door window kicked in. They said they then went inside and found the suspect asleep in the homeowner's bed.

When they tried to arrest him, he started fighting with officers and had to be tasered, according to police.

They said they also located a 2001 Mercury Cougar with the door standing wide open, which had been driven by the suspect to the house, in the driveway. A purse, keys and cell phone belonging to his girlfriend, Nicole Matthews of Akron, were in the car. Matthews was nowhere to be found at the scene.

Cuyahoga Falls police and Akron police ended up at Matthews’ apartment in the Timber Top development in North Hill Akron to do a welfare check on her. Police found the 21-year-old in her apartment unresponsive. Matthews was found extremely intoxicated and she eventually woke up as she was being checked out by Cuyahoga Falls EMS, police said.

The suspect, 22-year-old Jacob Parker, of Akron, was taken into custody and charged with burglary, a fourth-degree felony and resisting arrest, a second-degree misdemeanor.

Parker was in Stow Municipal Court Thursday morning.
