AKRON, Ohio - One man is dead after a shooting in Akron Wednesday afternoon, police said.

Late Thursday morning, the Summit County Medical Examiner identified the victim as Jaquare Jackson, 31, of Storer Avenue of Akron.

Two men in an Oldsmobile were shot near the intersection of Copley Road and Edgewood Avenue just before 3 p.m., police said. The car rolled to a stop at the Circle K on South Maple Street.

The shots came from a charcoal gray SUV with a decal on the bumper of yellow lips. Akron police said it had a license plate containing the numbers “2129.”

Jackson was taken to Akron General Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The other victim, a 28-year-old man, was taken to Akron City Hospital. Police said his injuries do not appear to be life threatening.

Anyone with information about the shooting should call the Akron Police Department at 330-375-2490.
