CUYAHOGA FALLS, Ohio - Cuyahoga Falls police confirm a mother and daughter reported missing on Oct. 11 have been found safe in California.

Jamie Woods, 36, and her daughter were found sleeping in a car at a rest area Oct. 31 by the highway patrol around 2:40 a.m.

Authorities there said Woods was low on cash and nearly out of gas.

Cuyahoga Falls police said the daughter had made contact with her father while they were gone.

A highway patrol deputy in California turned the child over to children services with the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office.

Woods was not arrested because she had custody of her daughter.
