CANTON, Ohio - Detectives have arrested the man they said shot his girlfriend in the chest. Demarco Wright, 18, will be arraigned Monday on murder and felonious assault charges. He's behind bars at the Summit County Jail.

Precious Love, 19, of Canton, was taken to Akron City Hospital after being shot around 2:30 a.m. in a home on Carlysle Street in Akron.

She died a short time later from her injuries.

We caught up with Love's best friend Donisha Jones at an Akron Walmart. She was there picking up diapers and wipes for Love's 10-month-old baby.

"She never let anybody watch her baby," Jones said. "Like why did this have to happen to her? She was so young and she has a baby that needs her."

Jones said Love's boyfriend, Wright, of two weeks was handling a gun and didn't know it was loaded when he pointed it at Love's chest.

"They tried to stop the blood," she said. The shooting happened at Wright's home, according to Jones.

Love's baby is staying with family.

Police continue to investigate.
