COPLEY, Ohio - An 8-year-old Copley girl said a man tried to coax her into his car while she was waiting for the bus Wednesday morning, police said.
The Fort Island Primary School student was standing on South Hametown Road, near Ridge Crest Drive at about 8:30 a.m. when a blue-green pick-up truck pulled into a nearby driveway.
Copley police said a man motioned to the girl and told her to get into the truck. The man drove off after the girl refused. He did not make physical contact with the girl, police said.
The 8-year-old was able to get onto the school bus safely. Police said the suspect description is still very vague at this time.
According to Copley police, there have not been any similar incidents this school year. The police department added they have been patrolling neighbors during school bus pick-up and drop-off, using marked and unmarked cars.
Anyone with information should call the Copley Police Department at 330-666-8866. Anonymous tips can be left with Summit County Crime Stoppers at 330-434-2677.
