SAGAMORE HILLS, Ohio - A man claiming to have explosives robbed the Charter One Bank in Sagamore Hills Tuesday afternoon.
The robber passed a demand note to an employee, telling her to put money into his backpack without triggering an alarm, Sagamore Hills police said. The note also indicated he had explosives with him.
Once he had the cash, the robber drove away in a blue, four-door, late-model Acura. All of the money, a total of $4,179, was recovered outside the bank with an exploded dye pack. Police said the suspect may have burns to his hands and arms because of the pack.
The robber was between 5 foot 10 and 6 foot 1 with a thin build. He was wearing jeans, a dark hooded-sweatshirt and a black baseball cap. He had on dark-framed glasses and was carrying a black backpack.
Anyone with information should call the Sagamore Hills Police Department at 330-468-0900.
