AKRON, Ohio - It appears that Akron native and former Cavalier LeBron James is taking his basketball camp out of northeast Ohio.
According to the Nike Elite Youth Basketball website, the LeBron James Skills Academy will take place in Las Vegas this July.
The camp started in 2007 and has called James A. Rhodes Arena at the University of Akron home ever since. The Nike-sponsored camp features 80 top high school basketball players from across the country.
Several sources are reporting the move is because of James’ training schedule for the U.S. Olympic team.
The so-called King has been less involved in his hometown since he decided to play with Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh with the Miami Heat. Last summer, James changed the name of his annual bike-a-thon from “King for Kids” to “Wheels for Education.”
