AKRON, Ohio - Akron police arrested a homeless man with a crack pipe after a bank was robbed Wednesday evening.
At about 5 p.m., a man walked into the Fifth Third Bank on South Main Street and went to the deposit counter. Police said he wrote a note, handed it to the teller and demanded money.
The man said he had a gun, but no gun was seen during the robbery. The teller gave him an unreported amount of cash and the suspect left, Akron police said.
A couple hours later, police found the suspect, 53-year-old Richard Cooper, who is homeless. Akron police said he had a crack pipe and crack with him.
Cooper was charged with robbery, drug abuse and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was taken to the Summit County Jail.
