Family and friends of Hannah Hill gather for a final farewell Sunday

SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio - Family and friends of Hannah Hill gathered at the gazebo next to Springfield Lake Sunday afternoon to remember Hannah Hill.

A balloon launch in the young woman's memory. "It will help us in our mourning," said Hill's brother Justin Hill.

Denny Ross was convicted earlier this month and sentenced to 19 years to life for Hannah Hill's murder back in 1999. He was tried a year later, but a judge declared a mistrial.

"We were there every day in the courthouse, thank God it's over we finally got justice for Hannah," said her father Elza Hill.

With tears in his eyes, Elza Hill, said "we came here to have a memorial for Hannah, a final goodbye."

Dozens of people stood in the cold, wet weather to write messages on balloons that were released. Her father wrote on one balloon, Dad will always love you.
