AKRON, Ohio - Summit Mall and sponsor Cleveland Clinic's Medina Hospital are launching a new mall walking program, looking to add to the already 300 mall walkers exercising weekly.

The partnership will include additions in the mall, including new mile marker signs throughout the concourses to help walkers track their distance and healthy walking tips to reinforce fitness goals. Medina Hospital will offer each registered mall walker a promotional gift and contribute to the mall's monthly walking program newsletter with beneficial health news and information.

"We're excited about partnering with Summit Mall and sponsoring this program," said Tom Tulisiak, MD, Medina Hospital President in a news release. "We are proud to extend our wellness activities to the residents of Medina County and look forward to registering future mall walkers at the program launch party."

During the launch party event on Feb. 29 from 9 a.m. - 11 a.m., you can register to be a mall walker and get a free t-shirt. You can also take advantage of complimentary breakfast and coffee.

In addition to walking, Medina Hospital will host monthly events for walkers focused on health and education. Some events will include free health screenings.

"So many walkers rely on the mall to provide them a safe and temperature controlled place to exercise," said Kate Andersen, marketing and business development director at Summit Mall. "Our partnership with Cleveland Clinic's Medina Hospital will help us provide an even better experience for them."

Those interested in joining the mall walker program can register anytime at Summit Mall's Guest Services Booth, located near Center Court outside of Gymboree.
