AKRON, Ohio - Akron police said they made one arrest after finding a 2-year-old in a house that had a working meth lab in the basement.
Police went to a house in the 700 block of Eastland Avenue on Monday to check on the welfare of a toddler girl, and reports of a possible meth lab.
They said the female resident who answered the door gave them consent to check the house. Officers said they found a working meth lab in the basement, including lab bottles, acid gas generators, ammonium nitrates fuel bottles and digital scales.
They arrested and charged Melissa S. Brown, 22, with illegal manufacturing of methamphetamines, illegal assembly of chemicals, endangering children and possession of criminal tools. She was booked into the Summit County Jail.
The 2-year-old child was removed from the house and placed in the custody of the Summit County Children's Services. The child was then taken to Children's Hospital for an evaluation.
