AKRON, Ohio - An Akron man was sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty to killing his ex-girlfriend.
John Pritchard, 53, shot 52-year-old Robin Bailey four times on Oct. 9, 2011, Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh said. He then took Bailey’s car and went to New Mexico, where U.S. Marshals tracked him down.
Bailey’s nephew told NewsChannel5 that the two broke up, but Pritchard refused to move out of the basement of her Patterson Avenue home. There was an eviction hearing scheduled for just days after the murder, family said.
Pritchard pleaded guilty to murder, tampering with evidence, domestic violence and grand theft last month. Prosecutors said he will be eligible for parole in 18 years.
